Static Electricity

STATIC ELECTRICITY. Winters in Vermont are long and cold. Wool-clad feet shuffle across a carpet, lovers lightly kiss, and tiny sparks fly. Winter's electricity is all around us - invisible, mysterious, ever-present. In my photographs, I am interested in the sparks that can fly between seemingly unrelated images and ideas. I use the diptych format (with two photographs printed on a single sheet of paper) to construct pairs of images that connect formally and conceptually. In each, there is a dichotomy between public and private states of mind.

Diptych: Path

Diptych: Goals

Ditypch: Night

Diptych: Floating

Diptych: Mountains
