Katharina Bosse was born in Finland in 1968 and grew up in Germany. After working in New York as an artist and editorial photographer from 1997-2003, she is living in Germany with her children Maxine and Leo. She is Professor for Photography at Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences.
Awards include The Agfa International Award for Photojournalism in 1997, Prix "Lumière" Vevey 2008,and several grants from DAAD and the German Government, most recently for the "Thingstätten " Project. Her work is in the collections of MoMA, NY, Maison Européenne de la Photographie; Paris, and DZ Bank, Frankfurt. It has been exhibited in group shows at the Centre Pompidou, Paris, and MoMA, New York.
Monographs:"Surface Tension", 2000, "New Burlesque", 2004, and "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Mother", 2011.
