about

Karey Walter is a recognized fine art, black and white photographer, and educator. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1968, she holds an M.F.A. degree from this University of Utah. Ms. Walter currently directs the photography program at The Lovett School in Atlanta, Georgia, where she has taught for the past twenty-two years.
Ms. Walters' collection of photographs varies from traditional black & white photography, historic processes, traditional color film, and digital photography documenting people and the landscapes from across the United States, Mexico, South America, and Europe. Her love of historic photographic processes and traditional analog photography is reflected in her diverse portfolio of works. She explores historic processes such as cyanotype printing, albumen printing, wet plate collodion, large format photography, medium format, and alternative darkroom processes.
She has a sensitive vision of her surroundings and an appreciation of various cultures. Her works have been displayed throughout the United States, Mexico, Italy, and France. Her works are included in numerous private and museum collections. In addition to creating art she has taught workshops at Savannah College of Art & Design, The Rocky Mountain School of Photography, Spoleto Study Abroad, The Pozos Art Project, Atlanta Celebrates Photography, The Showcase School, MediaNOLA, The Global Online Academy, The Society of Photo Educators, Art and Science in the Ecuadorian Rain Forest, Clemson University, Photography workshops in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and The High Museum of Art. She has curated historic exhibitions working with The Library of Congress, The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. and the Tubman Museum. Her photography has recently been published in an art and literature book called "Inspired Georgia."
