In 2004, after a lifetime in the south and east, I became a Midwesterner when my I moved to Indiana to join the art faculty at Earlham College. I found myself in a new environment. Not only had my wife and I relocated from Texas to the Midwest, but also from the countrys fourth-largest city to a small community. As a landscape photographer, this presented me with a wealth of new photographic material. My Earthbound photographs reflect my explorations to date of my new surroundings in Indiana and neighboring portions of Ohio and Michigan. They are not meant to be a comprehensive catalog of the Midwest -- they are simply vignettes that strike me as unique representations of Americas heartland.
Almost all of my photographs are shot on film with a medium-format camera. The negatives are scanned and then printed with Adobe PhotoShop software on fine art paper with an Epson professional inkjet printer utilizing archival pigments.
