If I Were An Artist and If I Were A Curator are two series which address, somewhat playfully, the difficulties any artist faces: making it as an artist. And “making it as an artist” often means gallery shows and positive press. Looking closely at artists like Thomas Demand and Lori Nix, I decided to explore the sculptural aspects of dioramas and constructing new spaces. Combining this with my career as an architectural photographer, I create models of interior gallery spaces and do full installations of miniature-sized works that are constructed specifically with the end photograph in mind. If I Were An Artist consists of installations of my own work (past series and ones I’ve not yet executed); whereas If I Were A Curator consists of installations of other artists’ works, both solo efforts as well as group shows.
