This Sunrise Ceremony was my first. Coming of age is marked in a variety of ways, but here it is a public trial of strength- both physical and mental; of determination and desire. A personal ordeal that involves the entire community. Although she may have been a young girl when she started it became clear that at the end she really was a young woman ready to take her place as an adult.
