Clare Benson is an interdisciplinary artist and image maker from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Her work focuses on themes of mortality and memory as it delves into the worlds of hunting culture and natural science. In 2014/2015, she received a Fulbright Fellowship to conduct research in northern Sweden at the Swedish Institute of Space Physics. Other recent awards include the PDN's 2017: 30 New and Emerging Photographers, Photolucida's Critical Mass Book Award, and a grant from the American-Scandinavian Foundation. Benson received her MFA from University of Arizona and her BFA from Central Michigan University. She currently serves as Assistant Professor at University of Connecticut.
