I was originally inspired to create this series of images in 2013 when I saw 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty'. For those who haven't seen the movie, its main character; Walter, is a daydreamer. As a child, I too was a daydreamer. From the day I learned to read, I was never without a book. As the years went by and my parent's marriage began to fall apart, I relied more heavily on books to take me away from what had become my own horror novel. To escape, I would sit at my desk and read, transporting myself to jungle forests, mountain peaks, and raging rivers.
'The Secret Life' is a visualization of the solitude and loneliness that I felt during my childhood, but it is also a celebration of my ability to overcome my darkest moments.
