Ashton Melton was born and raised in Kansas, where she longed for an environment where the arts were appreciated and a form of community. She began finding her community after she took a photography class in high school that taught her the old traditions and processes of film. Ever since that class, Ashton Melton has not been able to leave anywhere without her camera in her hand.
Moving to Savannah, Ashton Melton is a current student at Savannah College of Art and Design, pursuing a bachelor of fine art in documentary photography. During her time at SCAD, Ashton Melton has found that her true passion lies in documenting the human experience. It is the connections with people whom she may never see again and the stories she can hear that push her creativity, as her work brings awareness and understanding.
