once upon...(slide installation)

"Once Upon" slide show with installation ( details of 3 version of the story)
Our own stories often have varied versions, especially as time passes and our memories are radically shaped and shifted by ongoing life experiences. The lapse of time in stories either clarifies or disrupts the stasis of our current interpretation.

The bed carries a great many cultural and personal symbols. It can be a place of intense pleasure or pain. My piece directly addresses time, with the bed as a stage and with peripheral spaces (backstage) delivering secrets to the narrative. Light both reveals and is a protagonist in the drama.

Like much of my previous work, this work investigates the roles of photography in our culture through the symbolism of light and through performance. Whereas previously the photographic performance was explicit, here it is implicit.
