Texas Photographic Society sets a September 14, 2015 deadline for entries to The 28th Annual Members' Only Show.

TPS is proud to be celebrating its 28th year of the Annual Members’ Only Show. Members of TPS are invited to submit up to 10 images for The 28th Annual Membersʼ Only Show by September 14, 2015. The exhibition will be juried by Keith Carter and will open at TCC Photo Gallery in Longview, Texas, on December 10, 2015.

Fees

Entry fee is $30 for 5 images, plus $6 for each additional image. Photographers may enter up to 10 images. Please don't forget to include your membership fee, if also joining TPS at the time of entry.

Eligibility

The 28th Annual Members’ Only Show is open to all amateur and professional artists internationally. You MUST be a member of TPS to enter this competition. If you are not currently a member, you may join TPS and enter this show at the same time. Works exhibited previously in a TPS show are not eligible, and all work must have been produced in the last five years. Entries must be submitted digitally. Current members of the TPS Board are permitted to enter, but are not eligible for awards.

Requirements

Prepare Your Files: 1. Files should be 1200 pixels in the longest dimension and saved in JPEG format on the highest quality setting. 2. Label each file with your full name followed by consecutive numbers. For example, SamJones1, SamJones2. Do NOT use spaces in the file name (use underscores if necessary), and do NOT use special characters such as :’”/?}{()[ ]+-=*&^ %$#@!. (use only alpha-numeric characters). Submit Your Entries Via Email: 1. Please provide the following in your email message: (1) print title, process, image dimensions, date, and price/NFS for each entered image. Be sure to number each image to correspond with the number of your file name (file naming conventions indicated above); (2) your full name, address, city, state, zip code, and telephone number; (3) a note indicating your method of payment (online or check); and (4) your images attached as jpegs. 2. Email your images and information to shows@texasphoto.org. TPS reserves the right to exclude entries that are incomplete or images that are not prepared/saved according to specifications. 3. You may make payment online or by mailing a check (made payable to Texas Photographic Society) directly to us at: Texas Photographic Society, P.O. Box 1924, Johnson City, TX, 78636.

Awards

First Place = $500. Second Place = $300. Third Place = $200. Up to five Honorable Mentions may be awarded.

Evaluation Criteria

About the Juror: Keith Carter, Endowed Walles Chair of Visual Arts at Lamar University, Beaumont, TexasCarter is the recipient of numerous awards including the Texas Medal of Arts and the Lange-Taylor Prize from the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University.In addition, Carter has received the highest honors given to faculty for teaching, the University Professor Award, The Distinguished Faculty Lecturer Award, and the Regents’ Professor Award. He is the author of eleven books: “Fireflies”, “A Certain Alchemy”, “Opera Nuda”, “Ezekiel’s Horse”, “Holding Venus”, “Keith Carter Photographs: Twenty-Five Years”, “Bones”, “Heaven of Animals”, “Mojo”, “The Blue Man”, and “From Uncertain to Blue”.Carter’s work has been exhibited widely in over 100 solo exhibitions in 13 countries. His work is included in numerous private and public collections, including the National Portrait Gallery, Washington D.C.; the Art Institute of Chicago; the Smithsonian American Art Museum; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the George Eastman House; and the Wittliff Collection of Southwestern & Mexican Photography in San Marcos, Texas.
