ric kasnoffThursday, March 15, 2007, 12:00 - 1:30 pm (Concerto C)
Sponsored by Digital Railroad

How many times have you tried to get your images to your clients in a timely fashion only to be held back by technology? Having the greatest collection of images in the world is meaningless if nobody can see them, or if you have to struggle to get them to your clients… In this workshop Ric uses real-world examples of his and other top photographers’ workflows to demonstrate how Digital Railroad’s innovative tools and technologies enable you to deliver, distribute, collaborate, market and sell your images easily and efficiently – all for a very reasonable cost.  And, how Digital Railroad helps photo buyers easily find and purchase your images.

For over 35 years as a professional photographer Ric Kasnoff has been creating award- winning images. While concentrating mainly on portraits (studio, environmental and editorial/commercial) his work has taken him into the travel stock, advertising and product photography fields as well. As a Brooks Institute trained photographer, Ric has always sought to blend the best of traditional techniques with the latest in modern technology. Over the years this has led to his being certified as an expert and/or instructor in many of the professional level image manipulation and delivery programs from Apple and Adobe including Photoshop, Aperture, DVD Studio Pro, Final Cut Pro and Motion. He has trained thousands of photographers in seminars and workshops throughout the US (155 classes in 2005 alone).

Realizing from the start that he could not ignore the business side of photography, Ric has actively sought and held leadership positions with major imaging and imaging related companies, including stints as an Executive Producer at Microsoft, Senior Director of Business Development for Alchemedia, Executive Director of the Blue Earth Alliance and most recently, Senior Director of Professional Imaging for Digital Railroad.

Ric is or has been a member of the APA, ASMP, NANPA, NAPP and the Artist Trust Foundation of Washington and has served on the Presidents Council and the Digital Imaging Advisory Council of the International Center for Photography, and as a Digital Technology Advisor to the NTID at Rochester Institute of Technology. Ric’s digital imaging and Photoshop seminars/workshops are informational, educational and fun… his high energy style combined with his accessibility and willingness to customize the classes to his audiences on the fly make for a very worthwhile and enjoyable experience.

The Art of Fauxtography
Presented by Gene Nocon

Gene Nocon Thursday, March 15, 2007, 4:00 - 5:30 pm (Concerto A)
Sponsored by Freestyle Photographic Supplies

Photography to me isn’t the simple exercise of taking pictures.  That’s just the start of the process. The better part of my professional life has been in a photo darkroom making prints for myself and other photographers.  In that capacity no print was ever made “straight”.  Every print was a product of darkroom technique and manipulation.

The computer has only enhanced my ability to create. I’ve never been more involved in the image making process.  It is more hands-on than working in a photo darkroom. It is very intense and requires much more attention to detail and technique. And where the darkroom is a familiar and well-traveled path the computer offers a huge highway for creating new and exciting work.

Gene Nocon is considered one of photography's finest master printers. His experience includes 15 years in London printing for Europe's top photographers. Gene has won the title of ILFORD printer of the Year, he was made a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society (FRPS), founded the RPS Distinction Panel for Photographic Printers, and served as its first Chairman. He is also the inventor of the NOCON Photographic Timer, and the author of the books "Photographic Printing" and "Nocon on Photography".  His vita also includes advisor to HRH Prince Andrew Duke of York and to Linda McCartney
