2007 Scholarship Recipients
SPE is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2007 Freestyle Crystal Apple Award and eleven SPE Student Awards. We received great applications. Thank you to everyone who applied. Special thanks go to Freestyle Photographic Supplies for their generous donation to fund the Freestyle Crystal Apple Award. Special thanks goes to the many people and companies who contributed to the SPE Scholarship Fund. Your cash and product donations, your raffle tickets and purchases at the silent auction make the student awards possible.
Graduate student Ross Sawyers from the University of Washington is the recipient of the Crystal Apple Award. Paul Berger from the University of Washington will be honored as the sponsoring faculty and will receive an engraved crystal apple as part of the award. This prestigious award is sponsored by Freestyle Photographic Supplies. It includes $5,000, plus a one-year SPE membership and a conference fee waiver.
The Jeannie Pearce Award has been awarded to Kelly Flynn, an undergraduate student from the University of Miami. This award was created for students working with digital technology.
The recipients of the SPE Student Awards are: Tanya Boggs (San Francisco Art Institute, graduate student); Wendy Cooper (Savannah College of Art & Design, graduate student); John Holmgren (University of Minnesota, graduate student); Tracy Longley-Cook (Arizona State University, graduate student), Lauren Anne Loricchio (School of the Art Institute of Chicago, undergraduate student); Lily Mayfield (Columbia College Chicago, graduate student); Erika Nusser (Parsons The New School for Design, graduate student); Stephanie Rose (Kendall College of Art + Design, graduate student); Becki Rutta (Florida State University, graduate student); and Luke Strosnider (Visual Studies Workshop/SUNY Brockport, graduate student).
